Apps Final

User Driven Innovation

Applications are computer programs created to perform one or more tasks like managing your bank account or performing a useful function like word processing.
While the term “app” may be an abbreviation, referring to a small program (an Applet) that performs a simple task, in today’s vernacular, “app” generally refers to a program designed to run on a mobile device.  As the world is becoming more mobile, apps are no longer just simple programs. Most businesses that provide online access to perform a function or task on your computer are integrating their computer applications to work on the mobile platforms as well.

By utilizing end-user input, BTI will help clients to discover new opportunities, features, functions and capabilities, as well as identify areas for improvement on existing products.  The success of any app or application is directly related to how well the development organization addresses a series of usability challenges.

  • Scalability: The scale of the user base and the scale of the data needed to inform the design of an app or application.
  • Visual Design: Design is crucial in helping to focus the user’s attention and ability to complete a given task.  If the visual design isn’t clear and concise, the users will either be slow to complete the task or they will abandon the application or app.
  • Comprehension: Even if the application/app functions properly, without an intuitive structure users will not understand what it is trying to accomplish.
  • Interactivity: Understanding and anticipating all questions and troubleshooting that a user might do is critical providing the user with a positive experience.
  • Change Management: Designing how upgrades and changes are implemented will assist with the user’s acceptance of that shift. Creators can do this by creating support systems, structure and a road-map for changing previously established conditioning.  This will help to build long-term user loyalty.
  • Cross-channel Validation, Migration, Conversion and Integration: Different devices require an interface that anticipates that relative experience.

Clients can engage BTI at any point along the systems development life cycle (SDLC), from concept to design, from implementation to product release. From new product discovery to post release evaluation, BTI will help our clients gain insight into the motivation, needs, performance and perceptions of the target user populations. We can help you discover what makes them tick and how to get their attention.
